Canadian rock band 54-40 formed in 1981 and thirty three years later they are still know how to rock hard. They put on a great show as proven Friday night at Lift-off. Also playing Friday was The Glorious Sons, the Paul Deslaurier band, and Trailer Five.
On Saturday Alan Doyle of Great Big Sea took to Cornwall's largest stage. Devin Cuddy played a high energy set, and helped pump up the crowd for Alan Doyle. Hadrian’s Wall were fantastic too, playing an afternoon set outside in the hot sun. Ewen McIntosh who plays for Hadrian’s Wall played Lift-Off last year with the Crofters. Opening up Lift-Off on Saturday was the Mandee Wood’s band, featuring Roy Nichols who is the drummer of April Wine.
It rained early on Sunday, but it cleared up as the entertainment commenced. Headlining the final night of Lift Off was Doc Walker. Doc Walker is an award winning Canadian country band. They have won Canadian Country Music Awards and Juno Awards. Their hit radio songs include “I Am Ready” and “The Show is Free”. Small Town Pistols played a high energy set Sunday evening. Much to the delight of fans there was a Wilkinsons reunion when their father Steve joined Amanda and Tyler stage. Gentlemen Husbands put on a very good show too and kept the crowd who braved the wet weather entertained. To open up the show was Switchgear, who replaced Buskers Dream to kick off the final day of Lift Off. Congratulations to all the volunteers and committee members who made the 20th Anniversary of Lift Off a success.
