Friends of the Nation River is seeking artists!
Friends of the Nation River is seeking artists & craftspeople who create unique handcrafted goods, to join them for their 2nd annual Art on the Waterfront Festival held in Chesterville, on June 9 & 10. This is an outdoor festival. We provide a table & chair. There is a fee of $20 for the weekend. The general public is admitted for free. Friends of the Nation River (FOTNR) are taking a key interest in bringing life back to Chesterville and the North Dundas area. Through our major event “Art on the Waterfront” we are doing our part in the promotion of art, commerce and tourism in our beautiful town of Chesterville.
Friends of the Nation River is a homespun, grassroots, non profit organization comprised 100% of volunteers. Our mission is to promote and enhance the arts, the Village of Chesterville, and the Township of North Dundas. Last year we held our first ever Art on the Waterfront Festival, and while fairly small, it was deemed a success by those who participated and attended. This year with more volunteers to assist in organizing, with word of mouth promotion from last year’s participants & attendees, and through a much more thorough & widespread marketing blitz, we believe our Festival will grow dramatically. We would like you to be part of our growth.
The cost for the weekend is $20.00 for all participants. It is free for the public (with the exception of those who wish to see the Upper Canada Quilters Guild display, which costs $5.00). We will provide you with a table & chair. This is an outdoor festival. We do have limited covered spaces available in both our waterfront & park sites, which will be assigned by using a lottery. If you have a tent, please bring it. If you need more tables, chairs or display materials (easels, etc.) you will have to bring them yourself. We will have volunteers on hand to assist you in carrying & setting up your display. If we get a rainy weekend, the Township of North Dundas has kindly made a few of their buildings available for our participants.
We provide no food. You can either choose to bring your own, or purchase your meals from one of food suppliers at the festival, or one of our local restaurants. All participants are able to camp, free of charge for the night of June 9 at the Chesterville Fairgrounds. There are full service washrooms (no showers) at the Fairground. Drinking water is available, but we do not have electrical & water hookups available for those camping. Campfires are not permitted.
While we do have fair bit of space allotted for artists and artisans, we do have limits. Please ensure your participation by registering early. Once we have your registration you will be contacted by email or phone by one of our volunteers to confirm your participation. If you decide to show up on a whim, on the day our festival begins, there is a good chance you may be disappointed. Online you can reach us by visiting www. FOTNR.ca. There you can register or contact one of us from the listed emails & phone #s. If you don’t have access to a computer, please call either Jay Netherwood (613) 448-9018 or Ron Leclair
(613) 448-3889.
Whether you are an established artists looking for more sales, exposure & contacts, or just starting out and seeking public & peer feedback on what you have created, you should share this weekend with us.
